Joseph S. Picchi

Mr. Picchi is a shareholder in the law firm of Galloway, Lucchese, Everson & Picchi located in Pleasant Hill.  His primary areas of practice include professional liability defense defending physicians, hospitals, dentists/oral surgeons, and attorneys in malpractice actions, and in administrative hearings before the Medical Board, the Board of Registered Nursing, the Dental Board, the Acupuncture Board, the Osteopathic Board, and the State Bar of California.  Other areas of specialization include public entity defense and medical business litigation.  His interest in law associated with medicine was spurned by having been raised in a medical family with a father who was a practitioner in the East Bay and a Professor at U.C. Berkeley teaching and managing the Masters in Public Health M.D. program which is affiliated with UCSF Medical Center.  

Mr. Picchi has been practicing for over 25 years in California.  He earned a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1987 and he received his J.D. from The University of Santa Clara in 1991.  He has been licensed as an attorney in the state of California since 1991.  He is admitted to practice before all Courts in California as well as the United States District Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and California Supreme Court.

He has tried numerous cases to verdict in various jurisdictions throughout the state of California in Federal, state, and administrative courts.  In addition he has written various articles on subjects in the area of medical malpractice including defense of bariatric surgery cases, defense of obstetrical cases, defense of radiology cases, and defense of psychiatric cases.  

From 1990 to the present Mr. Picchi has been a moderator, speaker, presenter, and co-chairman of conferences involving a variety of medical topics at numerous conferences around the United States.  

He has been recognized by his peers as a Northern California Super Lawyer.
